| | | Field Crop ID please Spotted today, though it looked like the second growth of an earlier crop as it was sparce.

| | | Re: Field Crop ID please Apart from it being grown for its obvious use, Mustard is frequently used as a 'cover-crop', due to its rapid autumn growth which helps suppress weeds. Also used as a green manure due to its ability to gather and fix nutrients. Another use is in pest management. Like most Brassica species, Mustards release chemical compounds that are toxic to soil borne pathogens and pests, such as nematodes, fungi and some weeds. The mustards usually have higher concentrations of these chemicals than other Brassicas.
It is also used as a 'rotational' crop, giving the field a rest, especially after potatoes.
An all-round good plant!
