| | | 3 flowers for ID please 1. and 2. were growing on the sea wall at Emsworth, the top of Chichester Harbour. Most flowers over, but my guess is Golden Samphire.
3. In scrubland, close to the sea wall, on the sheltered side. Some form of St John's Wort - but which?
4. Also in the scrubland, Centaury?
many thanks

| | | Re: 3 flowers for ID please I think your first 2 pictures are of the Hottentot fig, or Carpobrotus edulis.
The centaury could be Common centaury.

| | | Re: 3 flowers for ID please Hedera, I think the angle of my picture is confusing. Pictures 1 and 2 were of a yellow flowered plant, most of them at least 18 inches high, in clumps, and going to seed - like a thistle, so I guess the compositae family. My shot was taken looking straight down on it.
The St John's Wort - type plant was small, growing close to the ground, the leaves pale, almost glaucus. Nearby was a more upright, more recognisably St John's wort. This one just looked odd, which is why I took the picture. (Not very good I'm afraid, my other half was walking quickly, with beer on his mind ) |

| | | Re: 3 flowers for ID please I +2. Golden Samphire - Inula crithmoides, quite common along that part of the Hants/Sussex coast.
3. Trailing St. John'swort - Hypericum humifusum. Leaves slightly thicker than normal due to being near the sea.
4. Common Centaury - Centaurium erythraea.
