Hi folks, I`m stuck on this one as well

It was growing in an area that looked like it had been planted to attract wildlife.

It looks like Lucerne.

Yes, definitely Lucerne Pam - Medicago sativa.
Was formerly grown as a fodder crop. May well have been planted as the seeds make a good winter-feed for many birds.

Many thanks Jason & Dorts. I`ve now found it in my book & wondered how I missed it

. To be honest I was looking at Restharrow & realised it wasn`t that & didn`t see the Lucern.
Another new one for me & so late in the year, I`m really pleased

Why have fodder crops like Lucerne and Sanfoin fallen out of favour?

Most 'fodder' was grown for cattle. Today, Sainfoin, Alfalfa and Lucerne etc. has been replaced with silage and haylage, grass-based feeds which respond well to modern agricultural methods.
