Which Persicaria ?
I found this along the banks of the River Lea in Hertfordshire, I can't decide if it's Pale Persicaria.

It was away from the waters edge by about 2 feet, there was definitely no red mark on the leaves so I've ruled out Redshank.

Can anyone confirm my ID please ? regards Nick

Looks like the terrestrial form of Amphibious Bistort, Persicaria amphibia.

Yes, I agree, Amphibious Bistort. The land-form, which is much less common, can be found well away from water, and is often non-flowering.
