| | | ID : Ragwort species? Hello,
During a recent mothing event at Hembury Woods near Buckfastleigh in Devon, I came across a solitary flowering plant looking very much like a Senicio species but can not for the life of me manage to determine it's identity. Could it posibly be Broad-leaved Ragwort? Apologies for the poor images taken in a dark wood.
Regards,
Andrew. |

| | | Re: ID : Ragwort species? Hi Andrew. It's not Broad-leaved Ragwort, that's an uncommon plant, not found in Devon, which has very long, narrow rather upright leaves. I've known of a group of plants down in a damp woodland in mid-Hants for many years and they have never flowered!, which apparently is quite common.
I think your plant is a Solidago, possibly a broad-leaved form of our native Goldenrod - Solidago virgaurea.
Dorts.

Dorts. | Evening Dorts,
Thanks, I was aware that Broad-leaved Ragwort was uncommon but did have an outside hope. Thanks for putting me right on Goldenrod, I had this in mind and did not know of a broad leaved variety.

Andrew. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
