| | | A wildflower from France! Hi everybody!
As a new member of the Forum I don't know if I should be posting a wildflower from France for ID!
This was photo was taken on a recent visit to the Vercors National Park in S France, north of Avignon. Its identity has beaten members of my family and friends who have any knowledge about wildflowers. The location was quite high, but not mountainous, and in a rocky area, possibly some kind of waste ground.
Any ideas out there, please?
Thanks in anticipation for your help. |

| | | Re: A wildflower from France! It's very like our Self-heal, which has blue flowers and sometimes white. Definitely the same family. The leaves are hairier perhaps because it is growing on higher ground.

| | | Re: A wildflower from France! It is Self Heal - Prunella vulgaris, same species as our common plant. It just happens to be a white-flowered var.
There are only three species in N W Europe.
Cut-leaved and Large-flowered are the other two.
