| | | mint an escapee cultivar?? Hi found this mint growing in the field margins of some cultivated fields.
Looks more like a commercial garden mint to me and the flower spikes certainly do not match any of the wild mints i can find.
Am i correct or can someone correctly id it for me please?
regards tn.

| | | Re: mint an escapee cultivar?? Mints, other than the native species can be notoriously difficult to identify to species. So many hybrids exist producing plants often impossible to key-out.
This plant is certainly of garden origin, possibly Round-leaved or Apple Mint.

That was my suspicion. I'm going with round leaved as there were no high citrus notes in the scent when i smelt it.
