| | | Is this lilac-coloured flower growing near the Thames lucerne? Hi all,
The nearest I can find for the iD of this is lucerne/alfalfa. Growing quite abundantly in London's Docklands.
Does anyone know?
Thanks.

| | | Re: Is this lilac-coloured flower growing near the Thames lucerne? Yes, I'd say it is Lucerne - Medicago sativa ssp. sativa, a very variable plant.
Where the two sub-species grow together, that is with Sickle Medic - Medicago sativa ssp. falcata, we can get a remarkable range of coloured flowers, including the only 'black' flower found in the British flora!
