| | | Wild Carrot Question An abundance of wild carrot plants seen in my vicinity today - see photo, but the sight made me wonder what is the significance of the red bit in the middle and if it is so beneficial, why does it not appear on every flowerhead? |

So probably has no significance at all, (though it would be nice to think it has).
