| | | hedge-parsley ID Right. I was in an arable field on chalk which has thrown up some nice finds such as pheasant's-eye and green-field speedwell (neither of which I found) in the past. I found this plant which is a Torilis. I originally thought Torilis japonica (upright hp) but it doesn't look quite right.
Basically, i'm asking whether it's upright hp or spreading hp, as I can't make my mind up!
(plenty of photos)
thanks in advance.

| | | Re: hedge-parsley ID I think this may be Knotted hedge-parsley, as the flowers come from the leaf axils.

| | | Re: hedge-parsley ID Leif. I'm undecided between a very weakly Hedge Parsley - Torillis japonica, and a rather 'leafy' Stone Parsley - Sison amomum.
The latter looks the most likely but I don't see any of the typical bract-like leaves amongst the upper stems but everything else fits.
Did it smell of a mixture of nutmeg and petrol? If it did it's Stone Parsley.

Dorts. | ahh I was in a rush so didn't smell it. I've looked up the records on the NBN gateway website and it is found in the area though. Upright hedge parsley doesn't seem right for it though
