Thank you all for your posts,I'v joined a work party this weekend at a nature reserve that backs this field and hope to find out why its been left like that.Thanks again Graham.

Evening Geoff,

There could be a few reasons asides neglect for such prevalence. Again just re-iterating there are about 15 rare or nationally-scarce species that are dependant on it - maybe the NR knows something we don't!
