| | | Enchanter's nightshade I saw this growing in a crack in my patio: two flowering plants. I've never seen it before!

| | | Re: Enchanter's nightshade I have seen it in the woods recently, but I never stopped to look at the beauty of its flowers. Lucky you having this in the garden.

1. was Ground Elder. 2. was Bindweed and 3. was Enchanter's Nightshade which was impossible to get rid of. Every tiny piece of its mass of small white roots, if left, would re-grow, to great annoyance.
It is the most attractive flower when inspected closely, but a pericious weed if it gets a hold in the wrong place.
So for me it's a case of 'Love it and Loathe it'.

| | | Re: Enchanter's nightshade It's very pretty close up. Also it is growing by Evening primroses and a lot of willowherbs that I just let flower : belong to the same family!
Thanks for the warning, Dorts!!

| | | Re: Enchanter's nightshade It was one of the first wild flowers I ever bothered to find out about when it appeared in my garden (followed by jack by the hedge) it is in two small areas of the garden. Rosebay willowherb and a deadnettle along with bindweed are the pernicious ones here (clay soil)

| | | Re: Enchanter's nightshade If you've got it in the garden you'll find lots of the seeds sticking to your socks or other low clothing.
Attractive but as Dorts warns it can be difficult to get rid of, though I've usually tolerated it. |

| | | Re: Enchanter's nightshade I read somewhere that all the parts of the flower are in twos. I've had a perfunctory look and it seems to be the case.
