Fantastic display. I would have stopped also!
Nice combinations of species: Tufted Vetch and Crosswort, Toadflax and Meadow Crane'sbill.
And the thistle looks like Melancholy Thistle - Cirsium heterophyllum, don't see that except 'up-north'.

I've seen some fantastic displays of orchids too, on roundabouts and road junctions. |

I am not sure but I think that the Local Authority round there have road verge protection policy. So many verges in Ryedale now seem to be a place for dull and unimaginative landowners to take their ride on mowers for a good long drive. We are not talking about sight lines at junctions, but half mile bowling greens. Still it does look so nice and tidy. And, of course, you can be sure there are no tigers lurking there.

Roadsides are an interesting habitat. I get excited when travelling just off the A2 onto a roundabout near me where I've spotted several spikes of Pyramidal Orchids! Lots of Bugle too.
