| | | Could this possibly be Wild Thyme? I was out on Dalton Crags (Cumbria) this morning and came across this flower, which I cannot find in my books. At first I thought it may have been some sort of stonecrop, but now beginning to wonder whether this is a albino wild thyme or something? It certainly has a sort of "thyme" appearance. I really dont know and any help or information on this would be extremely welcome.
The area is a limestone crag with broken pavement and short grass in between, and lies at about 800ft above sea level, the flowers where purely on there own within a one metre radius and could not find anymore anywhere else. There where lots of normal wild thyme on the crags in general throughout, and looking at the shapes of the petals etc am now wondering if this is a sort of albino, and if this is the case, does anyone know any information about it. |

Your photos certainly look like Wild Thyme, if you rubbed and smelled some of the leaves you would have smelled the usual the herby scent.
Quite a few wild flowers have white or albino forms, there's a thread on WAB with photos of quite a few, including one of mine of the local white Wild Thyme. Albino Flower Photo Board

| | | Re: Could this possibly be Wild Thyme? Hi Audrey,
Thanks for your great response, and yes I can confirm now that it is Wild Thyme, beein out on your suggestions and smelt the leaves. Also tried to take some better photos but no luck. Very hard with white flowers to get that clear clarity.
Also like you suggested posted on Albino thread.
Cheers,
Bryan. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
