not a clue

Common Gromwell ?

2) looks like a very big slender st. john's-wort (Hypericum pulchrum)

Bentley is two miles down the road from me, excellent place!

Thanks John and Leif.

Leif it is a great place, the Bedstraw had me fooled ,its all over the place on dry ground,the poss Slender st jons wort was on the side of the track that leads in to the pond.I was there on a day trip with Bath nats had a brief view of the Purple emporer and a few White letter in the tops of the elm trees,a great day out.
