Would this be either Rough Hawk's Beard or Perennial Sow Thistle?
Flower approx 40mm diameter, very noticeable on the roadside at the moment.   |

It's Corn (Perennial) Sow-thistle - Sonchus arvensis. It has those big-plump buds covered in yellow hairs.
Rough Hawksbeard - Crepis biennis is decreasing and is now becoming quite scarce in many areas.

I'm pleased one of my shortlisted 2 was correct.
These dandelion types are so hard to classify, for me anyway. |

Adittionally to this theme, I saw this magnificent plant, like a sort of hoary Corn (Perennial) Sowthistle at Hidcote House gardens a couple of days ago.
The leaves felt lovely....  |
