| | | Bee Orchid capsules Hi,
Just a photo of the ripening seed capsules of a Bee Orchid, in case anyone else isn't familiar with them.
I realised I don't pay much attention to orchids once they have flowered. Passing the spot where I photographed a Bee Orchid a while back I thought I'd take a shot of what the capsules look like. Good to know it hasn't been picked or trampled!
All the best,
Rob

| | | Re: Bee Orchid capsules Each capsule contains between 10-15,000 seeds, so your plant could hold as many as 100,000 seeds. It's amazing that the Bee Orchid is not more common.

| | | Re: Bee Orchid capsules I was at Dancing Ledge in April for the Early Spider orchids. There were thousands of them. I went back two months later expecting to see the seed capsules, but there was no sign of them. There weren't even any leaves.

| | | Re: Bee Orchid capsules Jim, the leaves normally dissapear after flowering, (especially so in the dry spring). Is it possible that the capsules and stems have been grazed off? I know that area does get grazed occasionaly during the spring/summer. But I agree it is surprising you didn't find any sign of old plants.
