| | New Forest Bog Orchids - Help Hi,
Are there any New Forest locals on here who might be willing to help me find Bog Orchids in the New Forest.
I have lived in the Forest for most of my life, and did succeed in tracking down Bog Orchids at Matley Bog in the late 1990's, but despite my best efforts, I have been unable to find them for the last two years.
Either my Orchid hunting skills need some retuning, or maybe the population I once knew the location of is no longer there.
If anyone is willing to give me a hand, I would be very, very grateful.
Thanks,
Adrian |

| | | Re: New Forest Bog Orchids - Help Adrian, there are a few wabbers who regularly seek out Bog Orchids in the Forest, who I'm sure will help.
Not been to many of the sites there for some years now.
There are still plenty of good sites over the forest, but some colonies have gradually reduced over the last 10/20 years. I've seen them at Holmsley, Wilverley, Stoney Cross, Hatchet Pond and a couple of other spots I never found the name of!
The New Forest still has the best concentraton of Bog Orchids in Europe, other than N.W. Scotland.

| | | Re: New Forest Bog Orchids - Help Hi Adrian,
I visited Matley Bog back in 2009 and found quite a few plants just next to the road.
Do you have an email address? I'll send you a map of where I found them. Obviously be very careful where you tread!
Here's my photos of those plants:
