| | BBC's The Wonder of Weeds I was disappointed to read the online acclaim for this programme. It seemed to me totally confused about the relationship of the concept 'weed' to that of 'wild plant' and jumped about between definitions. The presenter had some unusual ways of pronouncing names, even - I have to say - wrong ways, such as repeatedly calling dandelions 'Taxarum'. Both he and a subtitle translated Trifolium dubium as 'Clover'. These and other displays of ignorance and muddle did the BBC no service, IMHO. |

| | | Re: BBC's The Wonder of Weeds I also found the programme confused. Managed about 15 minutes then got too irritated to watch more. Shame really, as it seems a squandered opportunity to make an interesting and accurate prog about botany. |

| | | Re: BBC's The Wonder of Weeds The second part was on the 22nd June; sorry, I only just got round to watching my recording of it - and really wondered why I bothered. A wasted opportunity, I agree. Timothy Walker's programmes were much more authoritative, but of course still not about WILD flowers, except incidentally. |

| | | Re: BBC's The Wonder of Weeds I agree. It was a bit wishy washy and didn't really give an accurate narrative of what he was trying to convey. The history of botany programme was far better though they chose to film some shots in pointlessly dramatic places!
