| | Warm Hello! And lots of I.Ds for you :) Hi guys! So glad to Finally Join the board after lurking around for so long. I don't know why it took me so long to do it But I'm looking forward to a long and happy stay.
Hope you can help me with these Id's from this week. There's some I'm really not sure of at all and some I've had a go at (I came accross so many that I could Id but this lot stumped me). Any help would be ace.
Thanks
Is this one Weld?
I'm pretty sure this is Viper's Bugloss
Not a clue ???
Not sure on this one either.
I'm not sure which type of St John's wort this one is.
I think this is Selfheal
Scarlet Pimpernal?
Pretty sure this was Rue Leaved Saxifrage
Evening Primrose, Though unsure which. Common?
I believe this to be Bittersweet.
I had a few more but for some reason the page 2 of my images will not show... Is this a glitch? :/ |

| | | Re: Warm Hello! And lots of I.Ds for you :) Hi DD, a warm welcome to WAB. Look forward to your posts on the 'wildflower' forums.
Here's your list.
1. Weld
2. Viper's Bugloss.
3. White Campion. Possibly with a bit of hybridisation with Red Campion, (not uncommon).
4. Looks like Asparagus.
5. Square-stalked St. John's Wort. (Hardly any black dots).
6. Self-heal.
7. Scarlet Pimpernel.
8. Cut-leaved Cranesbill.
9. Common Evening Primrose - Oenothera biennis.
10. Bittersweet.
(check the ones that didn't load by going to your 'Library Images', see if they are there, or load them again!).
All the best

| | | Re: Warm Hello! And lots of I.Ds for you :) Your Evening-primrose is Large-flowered Evening-primrose. The stigma being longer than the stamens and the reddish sepals distinguish it from Common Evening-primrose (which is often the less common species) |

Ah so it was Campion! I was getting puzzled over it for ages as my books (I really need more!) Only showed Red campion.
Also, thanks for the confirmation on the Evening Primrose being the large flower and the St. Johns wort being the Square-stalked type- I did think it was these for the same reasons you gave but kept second guessing myself until I just didn't have a clue any more I'll try get those other images up for you all.
Thanks again. |

I think the last one is rape or turnip or something - flowers look to big for mustard? Not sure.

Second one definitely is, the first looks like it too, but can't see so much of it in the photo. Pretty, but invasive!
For the yellow crucifer we'll need more detail of the leaves + ideally the fruits for a positive ID. |

| | | Re: Warm Hello! And lots of I.Ds for you :) The first two look fine for Goat's Rue; there are some around with very narrow leaflets and you can clearly see those long 'bristle-like' sepal teeth.
No comment on the other two!
