But otherwise no. I have an excellent interactive dvd that I take with me when I take my laptop away with me |

| | | Re: Wildflower Identification The Collins eGuide to British wildlife is now available and this includes flowers. Go to Wildsounds: WildSounds or tel 01263 741 100. Some of the photos are not brilliant, but on the whole it's not too bad. You'd do much better buying Fitter, Fitter & Blamey, Wild Flowers of Britain and Northern Europe as a field guide. This is still superior to the new Wild Flowers of Britain & Ireland by Blamey, Fitter etc.!
Have a look at the flower pics on index |

I like the sound of your DVD for flower identification. What is it ?
I am working on my own collection of flower photos, of which I keep small versions on my PDA, to check when I am out botanising. I wonder how many species of British Wildflowers are now in the WAB Gallery.

| | | Re: Wildflower Identification I'm guessing what Gill may have is Interactive Flora of the British Isles based on Stace's flora + the relatively recent BSBI atlas + extra info with lots of photos. |

only seldom and would give it one out of five stars
for usability though three out of five for content.
Not value for money IMHO. |

Not value for money IMHO. | I agree the usage is a little clunky and takes a little getting used to but after that I think it's very good, I personally struggle with Stace but this allows you to work backwards through the stace key so you can learn how to use it more easily and I LOVE the brilliant link through to glossery terms to instantly help learn botanical terms more easily without having to be flicking back and forth through the book. It also covers naturalised species which books like Rose only just touch on in comparison.
As for value for money, when you consider that the original Stace key is around £30 plus, and it has all the maps derived from the new atlas of british and Irish flora which is over £100 and many of the BSBI guides for difficult pondweeds etc which would be more money, this dvdrom at £25 seems like a bargain to me! | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
