| | | Yorkshire plants for confirmation please Hello all taken in Yorkshire in various habitats over the week, just want some confirmation/id on some species please.
1. Brassica, taken in Whitby outside of a house on sand prob Perennial wall-rocket? Long fruits.
2. Must be common Valerian? Taken in Askham bog.
3. Think this is wood sage without any inflorescence. Coastal area Runswick bay.
4. Could only be field mouse ear? But on sand?
5. Cliff face in Whitby. Probably procumbent pearlwort?
6. Think this is Wallflower Erysimum cheiri, but first time I have seen it.
And a Water-violet just to show off

| | | Re: Yorkshire plants for confirmation please John, from what I can see, I think you have got them all!
Field Mouse-ear is a good find, always rather local and very striking; yes, often grows on slightly acid, sandy soils.
Water Violet I haven't seen this year yet, and it grows only just up the road!

| | | Re: Yorkshire plants for confirmation please Thanks Dorts. First time in these areas so always worth a second opinion. Went to the bogs in Yorkshire and there are about 8 spikes of water violet Got a few snaps, probably won't see it again in a while.

| | | Re: Yorkshire plants for confirmation please I'm not convinced 1 is Perennial Wall Rocket as the fruits seem too long, at the wrong angle + the flowers are usually much showier + a paler lemon yellow.. Not the best of photos to be certain, but I think Eastern Rocket, Sisymbrium orientale, which often occurs as a casual by houses, in paving, etc. |
