I was looking at the photos earlier today and couldn't think what it might be, but then out in the garden later I suddenly spotted a non-flowering Musk Mallow looking extremely like this, especially picture 2. |

(Though I still like my Poppy idea)
It's one of those plants we have all come across from time to time, but just can't put a finger on it.
Can't wait for some flowers which I'm sure will be pink or red.

| | | Re: ID : Moorland Umbellifer species. For me Musk Mallow is the best fit so far. I've never seen a poppy with a rust fungus, but am no expert on these fungi, so can't say that they don't occur. There is a very familiar rust that certainly affects Malvaceae, especially Common Mallow + Hollyhock, though I don't recall seeing it on Musk Mallow, though again maybe it does? |

| | | Re: ID : Moorland Umbellifer species. Evening all,
Finally, I have been able to confirm that it was indeed a beautiful Musk Mallow full of spectacular flowers. Sadly, I went with the battery for my camera still plugged into the charger!
At least this might help me ID the rust fungi now.
Regards,
Andrew. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
