| | | I.D. Help please Taken recently near Reeth in the Yorkshire Dales in the verge of a path. One of my books is called "Wild Flowers Of Yorkshire" by Howard M. Beck, and I've found it very helpful as most of my walking is done in this area. But not with these two. |

| | | Re: I.D. Help please I would suggest 1. is the hybrid Bluebell, Hyacinthoides x massartiana, (H. hispanica x non-scripta).
That is the hybrid between the English and Spanish Blubells, now appearing across the country and causing some concern.
Yes, you're right, 2. is Cuckoo Flower.

| | | Re: I.D. Help please I think your first flower is a Spanish bluebell, the wide open florets give it away. Someone must have dropped some bulbs from their garden!
The second is cuckoo-flower - Cardamine pratensis.

| | | Re: I.D. Help please I remember an article on tv some time ago about the invasion by Spanish Bluebells but seem to remember the difference being not that great. Without help I would never have "pegged" this flower as a Bluebell. Once again , many, many thanks. |

| | | Re: I.D. Help please If you have a copy of Howard Beck's field guide "Wildflowers of Yorkshire" then I'm surprised you could not identify cuckoo flower. The description is there on page 162 with a fine illustration on the oppsite page | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
