| | | Newbie needs help with ID Hi all, not long joined and really need some help with the ID of a flower in my garden.
Strange as the flower is identical to another growing nearby, one is red and the other green even though the flowers look identical.
Flower very pink 5 petals with a white star shaped centre. approx. 12mm diameter.
buds are green or red and are hairy
stems are green or red and hairy around 3-4mm diameter.
leaves again red or green and look a little like oak tree leaves hairy on the underside.
I believe they are called Whorled as 3 or 4 leaves come from the same node or maybe stem leaves as they are on a seperate stem protruding from the main stem. possibly palmate,
I feel like i've blabbed a bit but as a newbie am unsure so tried using the words in my collins gem. can't find a picture in there though.
Any help greatly appreciated |

| | | Re: Newbie needs help with ID Hi Beekeep, welcome to WAB. There are several thoughts come to mind re. your plant. But the easiest thing would be for you to post a photo of it on here. Go to the Gallery, then 'upload photos', then click on the 'Image Library' and then 'forum images' on the drop-down menu. It's not too difficult to do.
I'm sure we can help if we can see a pic or two.

I will try but am still trying to get to grips with the close up photos, not doing so well at the moment, either get blurry mess or camera won;t snap as too close !!!! |

In the meantime, could you say how tall the plant is. Is it a shrub or a low growing plant. Has it just emerged from the ground?
All the best.

| | | Re: Newbie needs help with ID It's Herb Robert, Geranium robertianum, which, as its name suggests is a wild geranium. very jolly little flower I think.
Your photos are very good.

I agree with Hedera - Herb Robert, a great little plant, pops up everywhere.
