| | | Re: Scottish cliff plant for ID please I'd say that it's Roseroot, although I'm never 100% confident without flowers. It certainly looks right to me though. |

| | | Re: Scottish cliff plant for ID please It's not a plant I'm familiar with (and I'm rather jealous, as a Southerner... ) but it certainly tallies up with the photos I've looked at of Roseroot, and doesn't match any of the other alien Sedums that are out there.
So yes, I'd agree. I've seen it before at Cwm Idwal, almost 10 years ago now, during my birding days, but that was through a telescope up on the high ledges. I'm planning to go there again next May; how I'm going to get close enough for a photo, christ knows... |

| | | Re: Scottish cliff plant for ID please I'd also go with roseroot. I've seen it at Cwm Idwal whilst on a horribly slimy gully climb next to the Devil's Kitchen (Devil's Staircase I think). Also on Skye. |

| | | Re: Scottish cliff plant for ID please Thanks everyone for looking. Roseroot it is then. That`s the joy of visiting different habitats, it`s a bit easier to find something new
David - I hope you have a good trip in May, tread carefully

I'm one of those people that when I'm doing something obviously, dangerously stupid (like climbing down a sheer cliff slope at Durlston, for instance, in the drizzle, camera in my only good hand and no treads on my shoes... ) I come out of it just fine. Crossing a quiet road on a sunny day to buy a newspaper, on the other hand, I fall flat on my face and break my elbow... |

| | | Re: Scottish cliff plant for ID please You don't need to go all the way up to to the cliffs to see Roseroot at Cwm Idwal. It grows on the big rocks next to the "nature trail" around Llyn Idwal. |
