| | | A few for ID/confirmation please;-) Hi all,
I'm not 100% sure - but is this Tormentil?...
1.
This pretty plant was growing amongst the Heather....
2.
Sorry the flower head is a bit blurred. It was breezy! And what is the fern called that's growing around it?...
3.
Is this Yellow Woundwort or Wood Sage?...or maybe it's neither!...
4.
Thanks,
Tracey

I thought it was a bit too small for bracken...but looking more closely, I think you're right!!!
Thanks for your help with ID's,
Tracey

| | | Re: A few for ID/confirmation please;-) I think the fern is Hard fern - Blechnum spicant. It looks far too small for Bracken at this time of year, assuming it's a recent photo.
There are some pictures of Hard Fern in the Gallery, Message - Wildlife Photography |

No the fern is Bracken, it is very variable. Hard Fern leaves are pinnate.
All the best

All the best | I'm looking at the 3rd picture down, not the 2nd down. I'd agree that the fern in the 2nd picture down is Bracken, but I still think that it's Hard Fern in the 3rd picture down, and that's the one that the Fern ID is being asked for.

I think it looks a bit odd as it has fallen over. |

| | | Re: A few for ID/confirmation please;-) To follow Tiggrx, if you look carefully you can see that the leaves are tripinnate, the main leaf stem of one of them is running down the picture on the left.

I think I need to stop being lazy and remove my glasses for looking at close things, it's amazing how different they look. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
