| | | Wild Sweet Pea Found a few of these gorgeous sweet peas this morning in the Derbyshire Dales, they look like wild sweet peas although I don't think I have ever seen the wild species before.

| | | Re: Wild Sweet Pea That one's Narrow-leaved Everlasting-pea (Lathyrus sylvestris) - it's a native plant and related to the garden Sweet Pea (Lathyrus odoratus), but I don't think the flowers have any scent.
There are quite a few Lathyrus species at large; the commonest one in my area is Broad-leaved Everlasting-pea (L. latifolius), a persistent garden escape that can make a beautiful show on waste ground if it's left alone. Two-flowered Everlasting-pea (L. grandiflorus) is another one I've seen a few times, but the true Sweet Pea is (Lathyrus odoratus) and only occurs in the wild as a casual.
I don't think it's hardy in this country, either. I did find one plant a few months ago, probably from dumped garden rubbish or soil. |

| | | Re: Wild Sweet Pea Many thanks for the information, it is good to find wild ones, I will be keeping a look out for some more. I have to say they were so much prettier than my culivated ones.
