| | | Dune Helleborine Hi all,
Very much a novice so finding these were a real treat. Photographed at a small wildflower reserve on the banks of the river South Tyne near Slaggyford. Dull overcast showery day so images not as bright as I would have liked.

Thanks for looking

| | | Re: Dune Helleborine That was the reserve
My friends old book about the reserve said "Slender Lipped Helleborine" Presumably this was before E. dunensis was classed as a species.
Even the author Mike Foley said it was the Narrow Lipped Helleborine (Thats how we found out about the site) |

| | | Re: Dune Helleborine Hi,
I went there last year to photograph mine. I can say that they are the inland form of the Dune helleborine, nicknamed the 'Tyne' Helleborine. Genetic research into these plants has proved they are not genetically separate enough to constitute a distinct species but also they are not Narrow-lipped helleborine, they just happen to look like them, the habitat and distribution is completely different anyway.
Just a final note, please don't disclose site names as in this thread, I know its annoying but I've had my hand slapped in the past about it and it's probably best to not mention them, certainly not in photographic form.
Thanks,
Mike
