Is this normal ? or is it male / female plants . There were white self heal in the meadow but i did not note the leaves on them.. Forgive my lack of knowledge .

| | | Re: odd self heal ? That looks interesting. I'm learning this as I go along but I reckon the one with entire leaves is Self-Heal Prunella vulgaris and the second with a suggestion of lobes near the bases of the leaves is a hybrid between the first one and the white ones you mention which might be Cut-leaved Self-Heal Prunella laciniata, so showing intermediate features - leaves a bit 'cut' and flowers half way betwen violet and white..
It would be interesting to see a photo of the white one's leaves.
I shall be looking out for this myself now - well-spotted,

| | | Re: odd self heal ? The common self-heal has slightly different leaves from the white/cream variants, which are usually found on chalky soil. |

| | | Re: odd self heal ? Your first pic shows normal Selfheal - Prunella vulgaris.
Your second pic shows the hybrid Prunella x intermedia, which is the hybrid of the normal plant, and the cream flowered version you mentioned. (The cream flowered version is Prunella laciniata, which usually has the pinnate leaves).
Regards
