| | | Japanese Knotweed research Hi
I'm working on an idea for a documentary about Japanese Knotweed, the way it has spread and steps being taken to get rid of it. I would like to hear from people who have been trying to deal with the plant, to find out what individuals' experiences are.
If anyone has strong feelings about the weed, or is currently struggling to combat it, I would very much like to hear from them. There's no obligation to take part in any filming of course - at the moment I'm just researching.
Please email me if you can help and I would be happy to explain more about the programme.
Many thanks,
Kathryn |

| | | Re: Japanese Knotweed research Hi Kathryn and welcome to WAB.
We have a house with a river at the bottom of the garden. When we moved in the banking was overgrown with the stuff. I cut it down to ground level and used a flymo to keep it down.
After many years it has disappeared entirely, during that time though we always noticed little red shoots popping up everywhere, which we quickly cut down.
Our neighbour let his grow and despite his banking being immediately adjacent to ours, we remain weed free, as long as we keep cutting the grass.
