| | | I've finally bought a Wildflower book! Hi all,
Well, after being an active member on here for around a month or so I thought I'd finally buy myself a Wildflower book. I wanted to take heed of your advice by buying Francis Rose's Wildflower Guide BUT I had a £10 book token lying around since Christmas and thought I'd take advantage of that.
Whilst in WH Smith's I saw the Collins Field Guide to Wildflowers but was considerably put off having seen Wild Flowers by Neil Fletcher, published by Dorling Kindersley, not only is the photography rather good but every single flower shows the leaf in detail and pinpoints many other characteristics the flower may have. I'm very impressed.
ISBN 0-7513-3873-7

Speaking of Francis Rose's book, has anyone got the new updated version? Iv got the old edition but I wondered whether it is worth getting the new version as I hear it has expanded to include alien species. |

That is until WAB came on line!........phew, I dug myself out of that one well.......Lol |

| I have both editions of The Wild Flower Key by Francis Rose. I prefer the original as a field guide. The revised and expanded edition is an excellent book.
The revised edition has more spaces in the keys making it less cluttered and easier to read. There are some visual improvements too. There are some useful identification tips for complex species. At the back of the book there is a Table of Ancient Woodland Indicator Plants, which is very handy if you are involved with any kind of survey work.
The revised edition has a protective laminated cover and is mostly purple! |

| | | Re: I've finally bought a Wildflower book! There used to be a second hand natural history book club, that enabled you to pick up things like the rose original for a fraction of the new cost, any ideas if its still running anyone ?
