| | | Wildflower Seed Donations Hello folks.
I share the garden half and half with my mother...my half is currently a pretty large vegetable patch...
But...
Having not lived in the village long i only just discovered some gorgeous allotments of which me and mum have just aqcuired 3/4 of a plot..
So....my dream plan ( which was all along ) is to turn my half of the garden into a mini nature reserve/ wildlife pond/ garden ( 90% native plants with the usual suspects for the nectar bar and butterflies etc)
I have been wild seed gathering where i can and am trying to build up a mini native seed bank/collection for use in the wildlife garden and other places around our house and land...or to help get friends into wildlife gardening and show them native plants can be pretty and decorative too.
I would be grateful if any of you have any spare seed or plants growing that the seed can be collected from that they wish to donate to my project?...as the allotment has only just come up and my plans put into action recently i have only been seed collecting since mid july...so i have probably missed a lot of the natives that have already gone over and finished?..
Anyway....any amount of seed would be greatly recieved from a few to a handful etc?...if possible though i need to know the exact plant/ species common or latin name labelled...
Many thanks
Dan
( my postal address will be given in PM)
p.s...im fine for native field/common poppy |

| | | Re: Wildflower Seed Donations Hi Dan, in the meantime while waiting for donations you can buy wild seed mixes fairly cheap. I bought a hedgerow mix and pond edge mix from a supplier online, both came to £10-50 and each mix was enough to cover 25sq m.
Here`s the link.... Emorsgate Wild Seeds - Product List
Some nice mixes on there...well worth a look.

| | | Re: Wildflower Seed Donations I have been out and picked you the following-Ox eye daisy. Small scabious. Meadow Cranesbill, Wood Cranesbill. It won't be too long now for betony seeds, Devils Bit Scabious seeds and Dark Mullein. I'll post these to you along with the other seeds i mentioned asap. Can i have your address so i can get them to you? Good luck with it & i hope to see the results On WAB sometime.
I should mention that these are all summer flowering.
Look for lungwort, cowslips, fritillary, Aquillegia for spring flowers & Aconite for late winter.
As i posted before somewhere else Wildflowers - Naturescape Native British Wild Flowers, Seeds, Plants and Advice with mail-order and online ordering Has the most extensive stock of wild flowers and you can pick individual seeds & plugs mixes and pond plants like you wouldn't believe. I'll stop rabbiting on |
