| | | Snake's Head Fritillary Just thought I would post that the Snake's Head Fritillary's are just coming out in Oxfordshire. I have been taking photos of them today. Yes I know you can buy them for your garden but to see a wild plant is far better! They are one of the UK's rarer plants and worth the effort of finding them in damp meadows along the Thames and associated streams and rivers.
Regards

I am not a flower expert but what a stunning plant.

| | | Re: Snake's Head Fritillary There's over 30 in flower at the London Wetland Centre + I think these were sourced under license from Cricklade. The ones in my garden are still in bud. If you've got them in the garden, keep an eye out for the destructive Lily Beetle, which will decimate them given a chance!
Another good site for them is Magdelen Meadows, Oxford. Lovely flowers! |

There are some flowering in the school grounds where I work, I have been guarding them as best I can, there seems to be a white one this year. |
