Just thought I would post that the Snake's Head Fritillary's are just coming out in Oxfordshire. I have been taking photos of them today. Yes I know you can buy them for your garden but to see a wild plant is far better! They are one of the UK's rarer plants and worth the effort of finding them in damp meadows along the Thames and associated streams and rivers.

I think this was the wild flower shown on Natures Calendar recently? .... a meadow in Cricklade in Wiltshire?
I am not a flower expert but what a stunning plant.

There's over 30 in flower at the London Wetland Centre + I think these were sourced under license from Cricklade. The ones in my garden are still in bud. If you've got them in the garden, keep an eye out for the destructive Lily Beetle, which will decimate them given a chance!
Another good site for them is Magdelen Meadows, Oxford. Lovely flowers! |

| Yep, thats where I went to. You are not allowed into the meadow at this time of year, but there are plenty that flower outside of the closed area. there are also other sites in and around Oxford where this plant grows. |

I wondered where mine had disappeared to, now I know it could be thine enemy the lily beetle
There are some flowering in the school grounds where I work, I have been guarding them as best I can, there seems to be a white one this year. |
