1. Kydney Vetch - Anthyllis vulneraria.
2. Crosswort - Cruciata laevipes.
3 + 4. Betony - Stachys officinalis.
5. Wild Thyme - Thymus serpyllum.
6. Common Knapweed - Centaurea nigra.

Lester, I forgot to add, that Kydney Vetch can be found in a range of colours, including yellow, brown, orange and red. The colour of your plant is not too uncommon, especially here in Wales.

Also just wondering if 6 is Greater Knapweed from the colouring of the bracts. From The Wildflower Key, Greater Knapweed "bracts with oval green lower parts and dark brown horseshoe shaped tips enclosing tip of green part" whilst Common Knapweed "tips of bracts brown, triangular....lower parts of bracts oblong, pale ...". It would fit with the habitat suggested by the other species (as would Common Kapweed).

Yes Johnny, you are of course quite right. It's a case of the mind thinking one thing, and the hand having written something entirely different! I think because Crosswort had been a thought, it was still there when I came to write Lady's Bedstraw.

As for Greater or Common Knapweed, it could well be either. But I think on reflection, you are probably right. (I did rather rush these this-morning. Should have known better.)
