Intense pink lobed fruit ?

Not a tree but a shrub found beside the canal. Intense pink three lobed fruit, set at the ends of the branches.

I'm sure someone will reply with the correct answer, but as Lady Isobel Barnett used to say (repeatedly) "Can you eat it"? Cheers, Tony.

It was just an impromptu stroll with the memsahib, sans phone. It was (as you can imagine) a few months ago.

I seem to have a time warp problem between seeing something, thinking to myself "I wonder what that is"? and months later. . . . . I'll look up spindle tree. Thanks for that, Cheers, Tony.

Addendum. Your a star doghound, that's the one. " Its 'loathsome smell and bitter taste' discourage consumption ".

Agreed Euonymus europaea becoming ever more attractive to wild birds if there are any left at the moment!

Spindle - Euonymus europaea. The fruit is poisonous, especially to children.
