The hedge that you're about to put in will be very grateful of the conditioning of you're soil.These hedging plants are very long lived so the better the soil,the happier the plants.I put lots of organic matter and rotted horse manure in my soil fours years ago and my hedge looks very well on it.I had those awful evergreen things,i think they're called Leylandii,and they left my soil in a right state.(Very acidic!!) Good luck with it!! Can't beat going native in my opinion.But thats just me!! |

Including organic material into the planting area is useful for moisture regulation and will support growth in the first couple of years and help the plants get through any drought periods with limited stress.
