| | | Beach Dune Flowers ID Help (2 of 2) I had a little project trying to snap as many sand dune plants and flowers as I could, this has left me with big problem as I can only ID a few despite pouring over the field guides. Can people please help (2nd of 2 requests).

14. Not enough of the plant.
15. As 1.
16. Another Rose, possibly a Sweet Briar.
17. Common Storksbill- Erodium cicutarium.
18. Bird'sfoot Trefoil - Lotus corniculatus.
19. Common Century - Centaurium erythraea.
20. Wild Thyme - Thymus polytrichus.

Dorts. | I think the gall is caused either by a cecid Janetiella frankumi which is, I think, quite common on Burnet Rose in various places (Derbyshire Dales, N & W Coasts of Scotland) or a gall wasp Diplolepis spinosissimae which occurs on other roses too.
The former was formally named in honour of Leicester naturalists Maggie and Roy Frankum as recently as 2003 by Keith Harris. There are still native insects waiting to be discovered like this one! |
