Grasses ID Please

Good afternoon all,

I am struggling to idenitfy these two grasses that I have found on the south downs in a chalk pit.

Rich, welcome to WAB.
With both, a flower would have helped. But never mind.
Two or three possibilities for the first, but I would go for a rather dessicated Sheep's Fescue - Festuca ovina agg.
The second looks like a Sedge, again difficult without a flower to be sure of species.
As with most plant on bare chalk, they can often struggle and this can give them a different 'look' from the norm.
