| | | Unknown plant Can anyone tell me what this plant with the weird leaves is. This one is about 6 inches high:
This one just over an inch, and has seed leaves as well.
Both growing amongst weeds in what I laughingly call my garden.
Jan

| | | Re: Unknown plant Worth hanging onto Jan, it's a great plant. But how on earth did it get into your 'garden'.
Milk Thistle is a costal plant, are you near the sea?

Just a warning Jan, at its best it can reach more than 5ft.! But I've always thought it would make a dramatic plant for the garden.

h | That's interesting as it is also sometimes refered to as the 'Blessed Milk Thistle'.
I've never heard of the leaves being eaten but apparently the plant contains 'liver tonics' that have been used for over 2,000 years. Much research is being done into its properties. It is apparently one of the few treatments known to prevent severe liver damage due to Deathcap ( Amanita phalloides) poisoning.
