| | | Re: Plant in Farmers Field Looks like it might be a game cover/wild bird crop. This plant looks like an Atriplex species possibly. |

| | | Re: Plant in Farmers Field I agree it's probably being grown as game-bird cover and/or food for young birds.
I think there could be a mixture of possibly three very closely related groups; Atriplex, Amaranthus and Celosia. (gold-flowered plant on the right). Amaranthus and Atriplex both have good bird-food qualities, but whatever these plants are, they are certainly very colourful.

| | | Re: Plant in Farmers Field Well done Woodman. Chenopodium quinoa var. melanospermum.
Couldn't have got any closer without getting it! Apparently often grown with Amaranth in S America from where it comes.
Not a plant I am familiar with.

| | | Re: Plant in Farmers Field "Breathes huge sigh of relief" with reference to recent mis- ID's!
This one I am familiar with (that doesn't mean to say I might pick the right name). Thanks Dorts. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
