They could be privet berries, but I'm not sure.

Possibly Cherry Laurel Prunus laurocerasus. If the fruits were on short stems I'd be thinking about Bird Cherry but it doesn't look quite right. |

Sorry to spoil the party, but it's Common Laurel - Prunus laurocerasus. The green leaves lower down are the give-away. Fruits are fine for this species.

I was black berries on the floor I looked to where they had come from as the dog was trying to eat them 
I stopped her as I think they are poisonous.. |
