but I would to make a plea for the proper use of capitals, paragraphs and punctuation. Please avoid "text speak" and also routinely use the spell-checker.
I am dyslexic, and reading poorly laid out English makes life harder than it needs to be for me, as it will for many people whose first language is not English.
Someone will say "well don't bother to read it". But I want to read it as the topic is interesting and helpful to me.
Cheers. |

| | | Re: ID please With more and more people using touch phones to post and with fewer and fewer people bothering to use proper grammar, I'll wager you are fighting a losing battle Hobjob. The rules state that "all content must be in English and not abbreviated, texting or slang". However the use of correct grammar is not stipulated. Furthermore, I don't think it's right to exclude people based on their willingness to construct sentences correctly.

| | | Re: ID please Hobjob, I fully understand your annoyance at how our wonderfull language is being used, (and abused) these days, but as Deb has pointed out, it's the way things are now and we have got to accept it.
If someone offers a written question that is incomprehensible then they will be excluding themselves, we won't have to do it for them.
Although Tigertom used a more 'modern' form of English, I fully understood the ID request that he had taken the trouble to post and was happy to help.
By the way, I too have 'grumpy days'.

Cheers. | Sorry you find my English poor but it is due to the fact that I am like you dyslexic, and when I was at school this ment being put into a class with no provisions for those like me. I try to have a dictionary with me when ever I am posting but this dos not help me with punctuation some thing I was never taught at school as far as teacher were concerned I was treated as a lost and I do not think I used any text speak in my post. Sorry if you find it hard to read my posts. I am lucky in the fact that although I am dyslexic, I have no problems with reading my porblem is with writeing and numbers I can read words perfect but still can not spell them I even know when word is spelt wrong but just can not put them right. MIKE
PS I do not have the use of a spell checker when posting wish I did would not take me as long to write a post as it dos now |
