| | Grass that I can't ID Hi Folks
got one here growing on an old railway embankment that is now a Nature reserve
This is the inflorescence it's approx 20cm high nothing unusual about the leaves |

Dorts. | agreed - common bird-seed introduction - there are a number of other, rarer Phalaris species . . . . we used to see them round this part of the world in former years, associated with wool waste

this is on a stretch of land that used to be a railway incline now long unused so the council turned it and the old concentration sidings next to it into a nature reserve it used to feed the Avenue Coking plant near Chesterfield but the site is now in remediation the other side of the main railway tracks is an old sewerage plant which has been updated and now uses Reed beds for the cleansing of the liquids produced so the nature reserve also encompasses those as to how bird seed got down here is a good one but will look out for more interlopers |
