| | | $ flowers from Rainton Meadows.
These images were obtained during a recent visit to Rainton Meadows. I would imagine that all will prefer magnesium/limestone habitats. I will label them
1 Small white
2 Blue
3 Red/White
4 Purple.
Can anyone assist with Id please.
Thanks |

2. Globe Thistle - Echinops sp.

| | | Re: $ flowers from Rainton Meadows. Dorts, your help is welcomed as usual. I'm a bit surprised that 1 & 3 are the same plant given, as I recollect, their difference in height, structure and colour. They were also growing only a few metres apart.
All the "unusual" plants I find in Rainton Meadows are in a created habitat close to the visitors centre. If folks are visiting the site I would recommend they have a look around to the rear of the building and enjoy a mug of ground coffee from the centre's cafe -at £1 it's a bargain! |

Your 'white-flowered' Marjoram just happens to be a shorter plant, but if you look at the leaves, stem and general flower-structure, you have the same species, though the leaves are paler due to it being an 'albino'.
