| | | Maritine Stichwort id I've tried to id this from various books & keys and got nowhere. Anyone help please.
Growing on the west coast of Ireland at Doolin, Co. Clare. Late April. Would be within range of salt spray, at least in winter storms.
Thanks

| | | Re: Maritine Stichwort id I think this is Field Mouse-ear Cerastium arvense, I have seen it by the coast before.

| | | Re: Maritine Stichwort id I think you're right John, though this plant is not as grey as I'd normally expect to see it.
In Ireland it only grows in Co. Claire, especially on the Burren Limestone. Cracking plant, and of course not at all common anywhere.

Dorts. | I am lucky - 2 miles down the road from me there is a reserve and around May time this plant can be found carpeting areas. Currently there is a lovely bed of small scabious near where the field mouse ear would be at the moment

I'll go with Field Mouse-ear then.
The leaves look waxy rather than downy to me but I don't have a better idea.
