| | | Star shaped flower Identification please Hi, I am a newbie to wild flowers generally. I have found this site really helpful in identifying some of the flowers I have seen recently. However this one really confused me:
?
The next one I took at Ivinghoe beacon this weekend, it looks like it is a vetch or something - but really don't know - prettly though, especially the drooping buds. Anybody care to help?

Look forward to seeing it in flower.

| | | Re: Star shaped flower Identification please Intriguing - made me think of something like Thorn apple, after the flower had fallen off. Borage-like, but was it climbing orscrambling?

| | | Re: Star shaped flower Identification please Thanks to all who have helped me over this, I feel a bit embarassed. I returned to the plant today and realised that I had mislead myself and others with a close up shot. I think the plant is Bristly Oxtongue. However I am really struck by how lovely these otherwise unremarkable plants are when you take a good look at them.

| | Re: Star shaped flower Identification please Yes it is Bristly Oxtongue. Unfortunately taxonomists have now changed its scientific name to something much less memorable:
Helminthotheca echioides. |
