| | | Hurst Meadows / East Molesey CC development Anyone who lives in the area of East Molesey, Surrey might be interested in the following development proposal by East Molesey CC on the adjacent wildflower areas of Hurst Meadows. There is an online questionnaire too. Parks

| | | Re: Hurst Meadows / East Molesey CC development Yes, there is a proposal to dig up about 1.5 hectares of wildflower meadows for a second cricket pitch for East Molesey Cricket Club. See details on Protect Hurst Meadows, Molesey. You can follow the campaign on twitter and send in comments through the website. Also, why not do the council's consultation no matter where you are on earth - deadline 29 July.

T2 | Sorry, a bit 'off thread', but my grandfather was a life-long member of Hust Park, and I still have a collection of his yearly members enamel badges.
I thought most of the old Race Course had been built on?
(Fancy you remembering that T2!)

| | | Re: Hurst Meadows / East Molesey CC development Yes, please do make a representation to the Council if you feel so inclined. This whole area was transferred years ago to Elmbridge Council to be used as public open space and the wildflower meadow gets better each year. I am not sure that it is even within their power to allow a change of use/development which will inevitably restrict public access, and this could be open to legal challenge.
Among others, there is a colony of Dropwort, unusual away from the N. Downs in Surrey but it grows here because the adjacent Thames is a calcareous river. Also, the Meadow Cranesbill here is truly native (ie. not introduced in some way) and in Surrey has this status in just a few other Thames-side Meadows.
