ID : Lombardy Poplar?
Morning WAB,

I have attached an image of a leaf taken from a row of roadside trees by a lay-by near Hele in Devon the other day.

I suspect this looks like a Lombardy Poplar leaf and the tree looks right when comparing to my books.

I know these are probably planted and highly likely to be hybridised cultivars but is anyone knowledgeable enough on trees to give an opinion on this leaf please?

The leaf is a poplar - but which? There are male and female Lombardy poplar trees: the females grow larger and have a slightly different fuller shape at the top.

Thanks for coming in on this one Hedera. I am really surprised there are male and female trees so that is something to look at and learn about!
