Another flower seen on our ramble today at Ardnave, Islay. I think it might be Red Hemp Nettle, but am not sure. Any ideas anyone? Thanks. Becky

Becky, it looks to me like Marsh Woundwort - Stachys palustris.

I always think marsh woundwort is a horrible smell when crushed leaves, try that becky, I'm with dorts.

See the other thread. This is quite a small plant judged against the adjacent clover, grass and plantain. |

Looks more like Red Bartsia (Odontites verna) to me |

I've had another look at this plant, and have to say there is something in it being Red Bartsia. It is horizontally branched low-down and the sepals are less pointed than in Marsh Woundwort. So I'm happy to change my mind on this one.
